New Zealand Manuka Honey, the Healing Honey UMF 15+

Manuka Honey originates in New Zealand from bees that pollinate the Manuka Flower. This flower only blooms for 2-6 weeks per year which makes this honey more difficult to obtain. Manuka honey contains a major Anti-Bacterial component called Methylglyoxal or MG or MGO, which is typically found in very small amounts in most honey, however due to the special properties of the Manuka Flower, the MG is so concentrated in Manuka honey, that is what gives it that strong Antibiotic effect.

Manuka honey contains an enzyme called Glucose Oxidase and has a high sugar content. Both of these create a very acidic and waterless environment which makes it difficult for bacteria to survive.

Multiple studies have shown that it can amplify wound healing and the regeneration of tissue, decreasing pain, especially in burns. It is very beneficial in treating scars as scarring treated with Manuka honey are much less stiff and painful as when compared to scarring treated with standard petroleum or Vaseline.

Manuka is also great for treating mouthrot because it is a natural Anti-Inflammatory and inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria.

When purchasing Manuka Honey, remember, the UMF is very important! UMF rated 10+ and higher are considered "Medical Grade" and beneficial for use in various treatments. The higher the UMF, the more potent the honey, and typically the most expensive. If it seems to good to be true, it likely is. We proudly list our honey's UMF rating and can assure you that we purchase only naturally sustainable honey from farms located in New Zealand.
