Suspension fluids are what pharmacies use to compound medications for oral administration. It is made with special compounds and has a pH that does not cause interactions with medications and is required to have special properties for suspending particles of medication. The fluids are then mixed with suspension syrups to enhance flavor and palatability.

Pre measure the volume of fluid needed less the volume of powder being used to make your suspension in a large syringe or graduate cylinder. Add pre weighed powder to a mortar & pestle or suitable mixing container with rounded bottom. Add small amounts of fluid to form a thick, viscous mass and mix while slowly adding approximately half the fluid until all the powder is incorporated into the suspension. Dilute to final volume by adding remaining fluid and mix well.
