Not for Human or Animal Use - we do not supply any medications that cannot be obtained without a prescription.

Please read this before giving any medications How to Read a Syringe !  If your animal is lethargic, refusing to eat or has other possible complications, please take it to a vet.  This is not meant to replace veterinary treatment, only use if you have a known healthy animal showing some signs of respiratory illness.

When treating your dragon for respiratory infections, please be sure to disinfect everything and remove any cage furniture made from porous materials that could house bacteria.  Eliminate any sand or loose substrates completely from your dragons environment and use a cleanable or disposable material.  Thoroughly disinfect the cage and keep furniture to a bare minimum, wipe surfaces daily or every other day with an antibacterial disinfectant.  Keep your dragons clean, scrub them down with chlorhexidine gluconate or povidone iodine after their normal baths.  Wash food or water bowls daily and remove feces immediately.  If you live in cooler regions, do not allow cage temps to drop below 85ºF at night and make sure there are no drafts. Always isolate dragons sick dragons to prevent the spread of pathogens.

This is a broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic that is effective in 10mg/mL strength for the treatment of Bacterial upper respiratory infections in bearded dragons and other reptiles.   This antibiotic is a concentration dependent bactericidal agent that is active against a broad spectrum of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, including mycoplasmas. If oral antibiotic treatment alone is unsuccessful, additional medications or therapies may be necessary.  Lung infections can be caused by several different types of pathogens, each of which respond to different agents for elimination.

It is very important to educate yourself thoroughly before giving this or any other medications to your animals without veterinary supervision.  Always be sure your dragon is well hydrated before giving this medication and be sure to offer extra fluids several times daily.  Avoid giving this medication to dragons with known kidney or liver problems.

Be careful to avoid giving calcium at the same time as this or any medication, as it could interfere with absorption and render it less effective. If calcium gluconate injections are being administered, do so at least 2-3 hours prior to enrofloxacin.

A dropperful of Acidophilus+ or Probitic Powder twice daily at feeding time will help with uncomfortable side affects and speed recovery.  Be sure to use probiotic therapy during and 10 to 14 days after antibiotic treatment to replace good bacteria and prevent secondary infections.

How much do you need?   10 doses of 10mg/kg is .3 cc x 10 = 3 mL for a 300 gram dragon , or .4 cc x 10 = 4 mL for a 400 gram dragon or 5 mL for a 500 gram dragon.  Get this strength for dragons over 300 grams to avoid having to give a large dose.  For dragons under 300 grams, get the 5mg/mL strength.

Please Note:  10mg per kg is a standard recommended dosage, some animals may require more or less.
In our personal experience, we have found better results by doubling the first dose or giving 2 full doses on the first day. This should be done using extreme caution with otherwise healthy dragons only.  If your dragon is lethargic in any way, do not try this.

To calculate dosages for animals under a kg (1000g) and over 100g, just put a decimal point in front your animals weight and multiply x the recommended dosage in mg, then divide by that number by the strength in mg/mL of the medication.
So for a 300 gram dragon that needs a 10mg/kg dose of 10mg/mL medicine you would do the math like this: 0.300kg (or just 0.3) x 10 (10mg/kg dose size)  = 3 / (divide by) 10 (10mg/mL strength med) = 0.3cc/mL   or 0.3 x 10 = 3 / 10 = 0.3  (half the amount of 5mg/mL strength, but double compared to the amount of 20mg/mL you would need)

- Comes with easy dose tip with cap and 1cc oral dosing syringe.
- Comes with 1/4 oz Probiotic Powder, give once or twice daily while on medication and for 7 days following.
- Cut top so that syringe fits snugly, turn upside down to extract dose.  Quick dose chart with 5% and 10% dosing instructions included.

Shake well before use, dispense upside down, does not need refrigeration, use within 60 days if flavored.  Discard after 90 days.

Note: This is a concentration dependent agent that requires a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) to be sufficient in the blood stream to be effective.  Optimum body temperature is required for this medication to distribute through the body efficiently.

Important!
Always be sure ectotherms have reached optimum body temperature before adminstering medications, sub optimum temperatures can result in drug overdose and be fatal or prolong recovery.
Before starting the medication, begin probiotic therapy the night before or 12 to 14 hours before dosing and 6 hours after dosing.
Give 1 full dose every 24 hours for 10 days or 3 to 4 days after cessation of clinical signs.
Give in the morning on an empty stomach 2 hours before feeding and when the animal has several hours to bask.
Do not give with calcium or other vitamins. (calcium gluconate injections should be given 2-3 hours prior)
Do not give at night before lights off and be sure night time temperatures do not fall below 85ºF during treatment.
If a dose is missed, give 1 full dose the next morning.
This antibiotic will not be as effective if you give less than the required dose at shorter intervals.

Fluid intake should be 2mL to 5mL per kg while on enrofloxacin, proper hydration is essential for this medication to circulate through the body and for elimination.   Continue providing additional fluids 1 week after treatment to flush the kidneys.

Recommended 10mg/mL Dose Chart Calculations
for Medication Strength of 10mg/mL 1%
To calculate proper dosage, multiply weight in Kilograms (gm x .001) x dosage of 5 or 10 mg, then divide by concentration of 10 mg/mL.
Give 1 dose orally every 24 hours for 10 days.
Always give extra fluids while on this medication

It is rapidly absorbed from the digestive tract, penetrating into all measured body tissues and fluids.  After oral dosing, 80% of the medication enters the systemic circulation unchanged.  Peak serum levels in mammals is reached within 1 - 2 hours of dosing and the elimination half life is from 3 to 4 hours,  this is even longer for ectotherms.  Primary route of excretion is through the kidneys z`and should clear the system within 8 - 12 hours, this can take up to 24 hours for reptiles.
